14th Annual Evening of Roses Honors Seton Hall President
Seton Hall > News & Events

Monsignor Robert Sheeran, president of Seton Hall University, will receive the Sister Rose Thering Award for Exemplary Leadership for his dedication and service not only to the University, but the world around him at the 14th Annual Evening of Roses on April 29 at 2 p.m. in Jubilee Hall Auditorium.  A reception in the Jubilee Hall Atrium will follow the program.  For more information, call (973) 761-9006.

Monsignor Sheeran’s leadership, scholarship, empathy, sensitivity and support of the Endowment all explain why he is receiving the Sister Rose Thering Award for Exemplary Leadership.  Beginning as an incoming freshman in 1967 and appointed president in 1995, Monsignor Sheeran has made great strides to make Seton Hall better.  Monsignor Sheeran’s work in creating the Sister Rose Thering Endowment truly stands out.  His support during the formation of the Endowment, his belief in the program and his pledge that it will endure long past his involvement and that of the current members of the Endowment’s board of trustees is why the program is still in existence 14 years after its inception.  He has worked closely with the board in order to bring knowledge of the Endowment to the attention of the Seton Hall community as well as the community at large.

The Honorable Brendan T. Byrne, former governor of New Jersey, will greet the crowd during the 14th Annual Evening of Roses.  Byrne served from 1974 to 1982 as Governor of the State of New Jersey.  Afterward, the musical program for the evening consists of Irish and classical music and will be headed by world-renowned tenor Robert White.  White toured Europe and America as a soloist with the New York Pro Music and has also sung for five American presidents, Britain’s Queen Mother and Prince Charles, the Royal Family of Monaco and Pope John Paul II.
