The College of Arts and Sciences at Seton Hall University is hosting
a welcome reception for Rabbi Alan Brill, Ph.D., newly appointed to the
Cooperman-Ross Endowed Chair for Jewish-Christian Studies in honor of
Sister Rose Thering.
Rabbi Brill, a specialist in interfaith relations, Eastern European
Jewish thought, modern orthodoxy and Jewish intellectual history, was
Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University prior to
coming to Seton Hall. A graduate of Yeshiva University, Dr. Brill
earned a bachelor’s, master's and a doctoral degree from Fordham
University. He received his rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva
University.
Rabbi Brill has lectured throughout the country and has published two
books and numerous articles and papers. This semester he is teaching
two courses: "Modern Jewish Thinkers" and "Perspectives on the
Holocaust". In the spring he will teach 'Judaism' and 'Encountering
Other Religions'.
Brill’s efforts to promote and strengthen interfaith dialogue and
relations extend beyond the classroom: he organized and participated in
numerous interfaith exchanges with cardinals, imams, pastors and
rabbis.
